In a world often overshadowed by hardship, stories of hope and transformation shine brightly, revealing the significant impact of faith and community. This is the story of Selvi, a 7th grader from India whose journey from illness to health illustrates the powerful role of prayer and the support of a nurturing environment.
From a young age, Selvi suffered from a heart condition, a congenital defect that prevented her from eating properly. Despite her challenges, she started attending the Evening School in her village. Selvi initially knew nothing about Jesus Christ, given her Hindu background. At the Evening School, Selvi began learning about Jesus and developing a deep love for Him. She became a regular attendee, enjoying her time there because of the friendships she formed.
As she listened to Bible stories, such as those about Naaman's leprosy and the ten lepers who were healed, she expressed a desire to pray and wished for a miracle of her own. Brother Thomas (the Evening School principal), her teacher, and all the students prayed for Selvi. Miraculously, their prayers were answered. Selvi is now completely healed. She no longer requires medication and enjoys good health and proper nutrition without any pain. She is very grateful for the evening school and, most of all, for God, who answered her prayers and restored her health.
Selvi's story is a testament to the power of faith, the strength of community, and the endless compassion of God. Her healing not only transformed her physical health but also deepened her spiritual journey, showcasing how divine intervention can manifest in our lives. Her renewed health is as a reminder that even the most challenging circumstances can be overcome through prayer and faith.
As James 5:15 reminds us, "And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven."
We invite you to keep Selvi and her family in your prayers. Often, when parents see God working in their children's lives, they choose to follow Him as well! Please pray for God to open their hearts to Him.
For just $7 a month per child, you can help sponsor a student like Selvi to attend a JFA Evening School! If God is leading you to support this ministry for precious Indian children, please click the button below.
