Let Us Not Neglect to Pray

The following story was shared with us by our Bible Worker Rohit and translated by Jhansi, JFA Field Correspondent:

Arvind* was the first Adventist in his village. By God’s grace, he brought 24 families into the faith. But through time and hardship, he gave in to wrong choices. He started to drink and do drugs, which caused him to drift from his faith. He stopped coming to church and attending any religious services because of these practices.

I talked with him and helped him understand what he was doing. I told him how he could return to his faith and reminded him that he was the pioneer who brought the Gospel to his village.

“Because of you, today, so many have come to Christ, but you have gone away," I said.

My talk didn’t do too much. Arvind didn’t return to church. Sadly, he fell sick soon after our talk. Within a few days, Arvind took a turn for the worse, and his condition became severe. He took all the necessary medicine, but nothing helped him to get well. He lost his ability to speak and walk.

I called the church elders and some members, and we had a special prayer time for Arvind. I also sent messages to prayer groups to join us in praying for him. The Lord heard our prayer, and now he can speak and walk.

I started Bible studies with him, and we studied the topic of diet and health. I also encouraged him to return to his passion for sharing the truth as he did in the past, and I reminded him how he could become a great witness to the villagers again.

How often do we pray for our pastors, evangelists, Bible Workers, missionaries, and ministry leaders?

We may look up to these people for their ministry success or powerful sermons. We can sometimes forget that more might be happening behind the scenes.

Those we see as spiritually strong can face trials, temptations, discouragements, or addictions we would never imagine. The enemy constantly seeks to bring down those dedicated to God’s service, but God is greater.

Join us in lifting up our brothers and sisters on the front lines, our leaders, and other influential people in prayer. Pray for God’s continual protection and guidance over them. Please also pray for Arvind that he may fully choose Christ and become a new creature in Him. We know He is already working.
