Sumitra's Struggle becomes Success
Sumitra, a seventh-grader, was floundering at school. She had difficulty with memorization, and her grades were poor. The flickering glow of the television often consumed her free time. Her teacher’s reprimands about her poor grades were a daily reminder of her struggles. In a moment of discouragement, her school’s principal even suggested that continuing her education might not be worthwhile. Her parents, understandably, were disheartened by their daughter’s uphill battle.
As a final effort to help Sumitra, her parents took her to the evening school in their village and asked if she could attend. The teachers, of course, said yes.
Once Sumitra started attending evening school, her grades dramatically improved. With the help of the evening school teacher, she stopped watching TV and began to finish her homework every day. She also learned how to pray, which she enjoys.
“Don’t stop going to the evening school,” Sumitra’s government school teacher told her. The teacher was so impressed by the changes in Sumitra’s life. Sumitra’s parents are also very happy and thankful to the evening school for helping and feeding their daughter. The evening school has transformed Sumitra’s life and brought hope and happiness to her family.
Please pray for Sumitra and her family to accept Jesus and for the evening school to continue to be a light to their community.
