Unimaginable Pain to Unimaginable Joy
By Gillian Wong
Amid despair, a Hindu couple found hope and transformation through an unexpected encounter. Faced with the sorrow of childlessness, they considered desperate measures, but their story took a miraculous turn.
Vijayan, a JFA Bible Worker, met Mr. Raja and his Hindu family while serving in his assigned area. Mr. Raja’s wife was a devoted follower of Ram, a Hindu deity, whom she respectfully addressed as her father. This devout couple regularly visited holy places, seeking spiritual fulfillment. Despite their faith and dedication, they faced a profound personal challenge—they could not have children. This young couple was deeply discouraged, their longing for a child turning into a desperate sadness.
They were so hopeless that they contemplated the unimaginable: stealing a baby from the hospital. Fortunately, their plan failed, but that only made them more hopeless, even considering suicide as their only escape from the pain. Vijayan could sense how unhappy they were when he went to their house. He prayed for them and urged them to seek medical help. He provided them with the contact of an Adventist doctor who also prayed with them and began treatment.
Through prayer and medical assistance, this family experienced a miraculous change. Blessed by God, they are now the joyful parents of two children. They have come to believe in Jesus Christ, after opening their hearts to hearing God's Word. Their transformation is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of trusting in God’s plans.
This story is a powerful reminder that God works in mysterious ways, turning despair into hope and sorrow into joy. As it is written in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Please keep this family in your prayers so they may continue to grow in their faith and find strength in God's love.
