How Will They Hear - Short Bible Worker Stories
An Indian man with his goat
Raja is an older Hindu man from a village in southern India. His main source of income is his beloved goat.
One day, Raja’s goat was stolen. He was devastated. What would he do without his breadwinner? How would he survive? He spent an entire week wondering what to do, then he had an idea. He went to a local pastor, and together they prayed, asking God to bring the goat back. God heard their fervent prayer, and two days later, God restored the goat to Raja!
Small miracles like this can have a huge impact on people’s lives. To us, it may seem that restoring a goat is a small thing, but to Raja, the goat was his livelihood. To him, God’s act was an incredible miracle and an expression of His love. Today, Raja is coming to church because he believes in the loving God that restored his breadwinner goat. Praise God!

Gurbaz slowed his truck and found a place to park. He looked around, taking in the sights around him. He wasn’t where he was supposed to be, and he had no idea how he had gotten there. But this wasn't the first time this had happened.
For some time Gurbaz had been in bondage to an evil spirit. The spirit often controlled him during his work as a truck driver. At certain times he was unable to control his speed or even where he was going.
Sometimes when driving through the hills, he became unconscious, not knowing who was changing the gears or remembering how he reached his destination.
Then he met Dharamveer, a JFA Bible Worker. Dharamveer told Gurbaz and his family the good news about Christ. He told Gurbaz how Jesus Christ died for him and can deliver him from the evil spirit. Gurbaz accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and Dharamveer prayed for his deliverance. Through his prayer the Holy Spirit delivered Gurbaz from the evil spirit and now he lives a joyful life of freedom in Christ. He gives all the Glory to Jesus for saving him.

Tara did not know who Jesus was. She wasn’t aware of the Truth, but whatever it was, she wanted to find it. For years she had been addicted to drugs, and she drank frequently. Her relationship with her family was strained, and she didn’t know what to do about it. Then one day, Samuel, a JFA Bible Worker, came to her house.
Samuel shared the Word of God with Tara and her family. “Our bodies are the temple of God,” he told them, “So we should not drink or smoke, because God dwells in our hearts.”
Tara was interested in learning about God, but she wasn’t so certain about wanting to follow Samuel's advice. Sometime later she became sick, and each day she grew weaker and weaker. Eventually she realized that the drugs, smoking, and alcohol were the reason she wasn’t getting better. She decided that day to quit. She prayed to the Almighty, and asked Samuel to pray for her as well.
Now Tara is free from her addictions and has accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. She is glad to know the Truth of the One who has set her free.

The harvest fields of India are ripe for the Gospel. God is revealing Himself to the Indian people in many ways. For some, He has answered prayers for health, or family, or lost goats. For others He has given a desire to know the truth. All they need is for someone to tell them who Jesus is and that He has the power to save them.
Romans 10: 14-15 says, How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
We praise God for the work our JFA Bible Workers are doing in India, but many more are needed to share the Gospel in this country where Jesus remains largely unknown. Will you join us in praying, as Jesus asked his disciples, for more laborers to be sent into the harvest?
