That They May Know Jesus Through Me:New Work among Unentered Tribes in India

One of our New Bible Workers visiting a family in Jharkhand, India

This month we got our first report from our newest Bible Workers in the state of Jharkhand in India. We shared a few weeks ago about how a group of volunteers had been serving the tribespeople of Jharkhand part time, and had been able to start a small congregation in one of the tribal villages. They requested us to hire at least 10 of these volunteers as Bible Workers so they could shepherd the new church members and reach out to other tribespeople full time. By the grace of God we were able to hire not 10, but 20!

Already in this first report, these Bible Workers have shared story after story of God’s providence, and His deep desire to reveal Himself to the people of Jharkhand.

Here is one such story:

Raisen, one of our new Bible Workers, got up early one morning, eager to begin his day’s work. But before he began, he paused to pray to the Lord.

“Please help me today as I am going out to meet people, so that they may know about Jesus through me,” he said.

Then he left his house and started for the village where he had been assigned to serve.

As he was going along the way, Raisen met a young man and started talking with him. Raisen learned that the young man’s name was Philip. He also learned that although Philip was a stranger to him, he was not entirely a stranger to Philip. Each day or the last two weeks, as Raisen walked to the village, Philip had watched him go by, and he had wondered where Raisen was going.

"What is your profession?" Philip asked.

Raisen was excited. This was just the opportunity he had been praying for, and he hadn’t even made it to the village yet.

“I am a simple disciple of Jesus,” he replied hapily, “And I preach about Jesus.”

Immediately Philip responded. “Wow. Sir, would you like to come to my home so that I can learn about the truth?”

Raisen happily agreed and he had a wonderful time discussing Jesus with this new acquaintance. As their time together drew to a close, Philip told him, “There are so many namesake Christians in this world. But I like your presentation so much the way you present it to me.” He also invited Raisen to come and tell him more about Bible truths.

Please pray for Raisen and all the other new Bible Workers in Jharkhand as they continue to allow God to work in and through them.
